Very Rare - Outside of 4/5* they can't hang with higher-level stuff, but they can be useful in the mid-game.If you are using a given Rare and can empower it, sure go for it, I just wouldn't make it a focus. That said it is harder to get the rare orbs, so by the time you can empower one to 5* you'll have stronger options (like focusing on the Kratus or some such). Rare - Same empowerment boost as commons, but with better base stats.A 5* common gets a modest 59% boost on top of bad stats, early on it can help you cheap up through arena, but it will start being out-gunned once you start running into Epics and Legendaries.
